ACADEMIC HEAD

My dear students, Parents and well-wishers of Don Bosco School Kharagpur.

It was on the 27th of July that I was sitting in the auditorium of the Taj, City Centre, New Town, Kolkata, eagerly anticipating the onset of the Swami Vivekananda National Award Ceremony 2024, where our school was to receive the award for Academic Excellence. It was then that I realized that there was so much in common between our Patron Saint, Don Bosco and this great national, inspirational, Leader Swami Vivekananda. Both these two eminent personalities, in their own spheres, worked for the spiritual and progressive development of the youth.

The Swami’s cry to the youth, “Arise, awake, and stop not until the goal is reached!” should resound in the realms of every young conscience, helping each one to strive to attain his or her purpose in life. St. Don Bosco’s advice to educators is, “In every young person, a point of goodness is accessible, and it is the primary duty of the educator to discover that sensitive cord of the heart so as to draw out the best in the young person.”

In Don Bosco School Kharagpur, our well qualified and experienced staff enable our students to strive for excellence. Every facility has been provided to develop the genius in our youth, whether it be delving into technology in the STEM, ROBOTICS and SCIENCE labs, critically thinking to solve complicated problems in the MATH Lab, developing communication skills in the WORDSWORTH Lab or creatively designing works of beauty in the ART STUDIO. For those who are talented in outdoor activities, excellent SPORTS facilities are also available.

However, just having these amenities within our reach is not enough. Students, it is for you to reach out, take the apple from the basket, grasp it and use its potential energy to make positive progress. May you be empowered with the tools and resources to be catalysts for a new world where innovation and peace reign supreme.

Interestingly, National Youth Day, honouring Swami Vivekananda on January 12th, and the Feast of Don Bosco on January 31st, both fall in the same month. Both figures inspire young people to focus their energy on personal growth and meaningful contributions to society.

Dear students, your school has provided you with both the C.B.S.E. Board and the Cambridge Board. You have the choice to pursue a national or an international board in your endeavor to groom yourself as a global citizen. The YOUTH STAGE of life is a crucial and reasonable time to make meaningful choices, that will determine the nature of the coming years that lie ahead.

So, dear Boscoites, Teachers and Parents, in Don Bosco School Kharagpur, let us unite our forces to create the blue print for a better and brighter world of tomorrow.

Dear Students, Parents, and Friends of Don Bosco School,

Welcome to the Sports Department of Don Bosco School, Kharagpur! As the Sports Head, it is both a privilege and a pleasure to guide our students on their journey towards excellence in sports. At Don Bosco, we believe that sports are not just about winning; they are about building character, teamwork, discipline, and resilience—values that are essential for life.

Our school has always strived to provide students with opportunities to explore their potential in various sporting disciplines. With a strong focus on physical education and professional coaching, we aim to foster a culture of excellence where students can learn, grow, and compete at the highest levels.

With my experience as a player and coach in national and international tennis, including my work with champions like Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi, and Sania Mirza, I am committed to nurturing the next generation of athletes at Don Bosco. My goal is to ensure that every student discovers their strengths and develops a lifelong passion for fitness and sportsmanship.

I look forward to working closely with our students, teachers, and parents to continue building a vibrant sports culture that reflects the spirit and values of Don Bosco School.
